I couldn't attend the info session, but I did go take a tour of the campus and sit in on a regular class. I'm sure you would get a better impression from the info session though.
The class i sat in on what interesting. It was a cardiopulmonary class and the professor seemed nice with a fun style. They were doing a case study so I didn't see a full on lecture. The classroom had no windows, not sure how much time they spend in there but that was a bit of a bummer if they spend a lot of time.
All the students I talked to loved the program and thought their professors were great and really accessible. They had what looked like a diverse mix of students. They have a 3+3 program so their were a couple of undergrads in the course I was in
They do anatomy on already prosected cadavers and just pin everything so if someone really doesn't want to do a dissection that could be a bonus. I kind of want to because i think I would remember more.
The campus in very urban, in a really pretty part of Boston. I actually thought all of Boston was really pretty. I come from San Francisco and happen to think it's the most beautiful city, but I could put Boston at a close second 🙂
A student gave me a tour and the facilities were good. Nothing that really stands out in my mind but I did look at 4 schools in one week so a lot of it was a blur. The student went over the curriculum with me and she was really enthusiastic about the program. As she went through the curriculum she kept saying this professor is so great, this class was so fun, etc. You could tell she was super into the program.
Overall I'd say if you went to Boston you'd get a great education, they have cool programs associated with the hospital, and you'd live in an awesome city.
That being said I am giving up my spot because I have cheaper options that are just a good, but I think you'd make some really good connections there. If I had gotten any scholarship money I would be seriously considering going here. I also know a therapist that graduated from BU and not only is she a great therapist (My friend who is her supervisor thinks she is awesome) but she raves about the program. She is in a lot of debt but she personally thought it was worth it and is in a fellowship right now which means she's not making a ton of money but seems to be making it work.
I don't know where they are in admissions cycle but I am giving up my spot so there is at least one, and I'm sure a lot more out there. I think I got accepted in the first cycle and there is still a week or so before our deposits are due for anyone who is still waiting to hear.
Hope this was a little helpful, hopefully someone who went to the actual info day will have more info.
