Boston

I would say your odds are pretty decent. Interviews are still rolling and people are still moving around at schools. And since BU isn't many people's top choice, your chances are probably higher.

If you are already accepted elsewhere, I wouldn't go. Otherwise, go!

I just received an invite and was wondering the odds at landing an acceptance with such a late interview?

I think the odds are in your favor. Last time I read up the ADEA Guide I remember seeing both BU and Tufts as accepting a large chunk of their applicants. Given your predents profile and the fact you have no acceptances, you kind of have to go to this interview either way. But to reassure you, I think BU accepted around 85% or so of their interviewees in the last cycle. Obviously the % might change this year, but either way it seems like a good chance of acceptance if you dont butcher the interview.

GL.

Last year BU accepted 250 of 400 who interviewed. And they seem to really favor people with connections.

😕 I thought it was more like 319 out of 430. Are you sure you're looking at the right ADEA guide?

The admission staff told us 250 out of 400 during my interview.

hmmm I dunno maybe they meant out of state students, although BU is private and doesnt differentiate between in or out of state. So wired. well the % are from 62 to 74% which is pretty good in my mind.

Yea I was looking at that but do you think the % is higher than the average since it is post-Dec.?

There's no way to know for sure. Looking at the total still helps because schools accept 33 to 50% of students post Dec 1st.

All you can really do is go to the interview and nail it. Everything else is out of your hands.

not sure if its higher since the competition increases with less available seats, but still a great % and you won't have to wait agonizingly lol

some tips for boston; they are super cheery so try to reciprocate that 🙄
also i noticed a great emphasis on their dean's mission statement/vision, so look into that on their website (about global care etc)

Thanks for the insight! I wont hear anything from lecom until late Feb. anyways so this is great. I wonder how many spots are filled there...

7/14 email and 7/13 aadsas. I sent them a letter expressing interest as well about 3 weeks ago so that may have helped.

If you don't have an acceptance yet, go. You have nothing to lose.

I sent one last week...it will be interesting to see if my letter gets me anywhere. Good luck at your interview! I think you still stand a pretty good chance because lots of those who were accepted probably opted for a less expensive option if available.

Yea I am definitely going go. It was funny reading up on some of the threads about BU. Profs dating students, students paying patients lmao. I will be spending an extra day there too to explore!

Dudeee when's your interview? I have one at Tufts and I'm staying an extra day too. I need someone to explore with haha

Where did you find this figure from BTW?

the last version of the ADEA guide, since BU is a private school, in state and out of state applicants have an equal shot at admission. I just took the total number of interviewed applicants and then compared it against offers made. So last year 74% of interviewees were given offers. Take that as you like since it doesnt mean that the % is going to be the same this year. But looking back at the trends over the last two years, the % were pretty close.

I've been told that if you have an acceptance anywhere else, don't bother with Boston. However, if you have time and money to kill, then go for it.

Got an invite today for January 30th

defiantly lol

History at BU is indisputable. You could spend $500k plus interest and not get a degree, and not because you were a bad student or dentist. That sounds like a death sentence to me, and a lot to lose for yourself and loved ones.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience man but if that was the case for most people there that school would be shut down in a heart beat and under criminal investigation lol. IBR therefore price really doesn't matter. The experience I get during DS really doesn't matter and where I go won't dictate how much I will make, maybe as a fresh grad but not after a few years.

This would probably be his reply.

I'm curious how the school will handle going through accreditation next year, since this time their Dean isn't a member or the chair of the Commision on Dental Accreditation.
