So am I the only one who thinks that sound passages are much more ridiculously different from other chapters..?

I have been going over sound so many times because I really feel that I don't get it and as I go through, I think I get it now but the passages are just a killer.

I got like avg 3 wrongs per passage.. especially got destroyed from VIII..

Other chapters seem fine to me but it's just sound chapter.. anyone knows how much I have to know for sound..?

I thought I had the sound stuff down too and got owned by the passages.

I have no idea how difficult it is in comparison to the real deal, but I honestly feel like they were pulling stuff out of their butts for some of the questions.

does anyone know why heavier object vibrates more slowly?

the frequency of a spring is f = 2pi sq rt k/m. Since m is in the denominator, heavier objects would have smaller frequency and thus vibrate more slowly. Hope it helps.

i knew most of the concepts, but i was making dumb mistakes because it was some intense ****. especially the ultrasound stuff, i was messing up basics of math. but i feel like it was good practice in case some weird stuff comes up on the MCAT. especially ultrasound, considering it is explicitly on the AAMC PS topics list. i've heard some people say that there were passages on the MCAT that were almost exactly like some passages from TBR. don't be surprised.

a lot. its like a whole topic lol. it was a super tricky section. i don't think that it was hard, but just super tricky. like one of the questions was if the speed of sound increases then what should you do with the bucket of water to produce the same frequency of sound? i didn't read close enough and i knew you had to increase L, so i picked increase the amount of water (which would decrease L). so i got that wrong. there were other tricky ones. like all the closed pipe resonant frequencies (modes are only 1, 3, 5, 7...) i knew it, but forgot it under pressure. it was just a tricky section.

wait til you get to the next chapter, i felt it was super easy.

I remember this one passage something about tuning forks and water columns. Legitimately GOT OWNED. I didn't understand the explanations either. They seemed way too left field. However, sound is usually an easy topic on the MCAT. Knowing that it's a log scale etc.

I did the best on that sound chapter compared to the others 😀

But its probably because we spent a crapton of time on that in class.
