Delete this if it falls under the category of "giving medical advice".
Wife went to dentist today. Needs to have wisdom teeth removed soon. That's fine. She does have some malalignment of her teeth, nothing severe, nothing that bothers her. She had braces as a kid but her teeth just kind of went back after the braces were removed. She isn't interested in braces again.
Dentist insists that she go to an orthodontist before getting her wisdom teeth taken out because sometimes they like to do braces first before the wisdom teeth extraction. (edit: wife got home and after talking with her, it sounds like this may be more an issue of "the orthodontist will want to see you before you get the teeth pulled in order to come up with their orthodontic plan") This makes no sense to me because braces seem like a completely elective procedure to me. If my wife doesn't want them, it should have no bearing on whether she gets these wisdom teeth pulled or not.
I know nothing about dentistry. Just curious if this seems like common practice to you guys. I apologize if this violates TOS. Just delete if that is the case.
