I am not a psychologist. I have my MS in biology but have always been interested in all the sciences and love reading about behavioral issues. Anyways, I am curious if any of you have read this book. If so, what are your thoughts. I certainly have some opinions about the book but would like to wait until I hear what other's might have to say about it. Thank you!

I am not familiar with Dr. Sorensen or this book. There are lots of self-esteem books out there and if you look at local university counseling center, they may make some recommendations to you.

David Burns has written some books on cognitive behavior therapy that also address self-esteem. Edmund Bourne also has written popular books on anxiety disorders, usually with a section on self-esteem.

Addressing self-esteem by itself can be tricky and some therapists prefer to help clients address particular problems (e.g. social or performance anxiety) instead.

My only suggestion is contact your college counseling center or borrow the book and see if it's helpful.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I haven't read or heard of the book, sorry. Why don't you give us some of your thoughts and see if that gets the conversation going? I think a discussion about the utility of self-esteem interventions could be pretty interesting.
