Has anyone done rotations at Broward General?

I'm interested in doing a rotation there, and am curious as to which rotations are available. The website does not have any information about this.

Thanks in advance.

OSU: I'm doing my third-year rotations at Broward General. The only current residencies there are FP and derm, but they are going through the approval process to start IM and EM in 2008.

This is the list of "most popular elective rotations" we got from the DME:
-Internal Medicine team
-Family Medicine service
-Pulmonary Medicine - Dr. S Jain, Dr. G. Singer
-Cardiology - Dr. Perloff, Dr. Chizner
-Emergency Medicine
-Pediatric Surgery - Dr. Puranik, Dr. Markeley
-Trauma Surgery - Dr. Puente, Dr. Guarneri
-General Surgery - Dr. Guarneri
Other rotations are available
Please contact the Medical Education Coordinator at 954-468-5201.

If you are interested, the Cardiology rotation is an amazing learning experience and extremely popular. Dr. Chizner is a world-famous cardiologist and the author of "Clinical Cardiology Made Ridiculously Simple." The trauma surgery rotation is also very good as Broward is a Level 1 Trauma Center with a brand-new state-of-the-art ER and trauma center (opened in October 2005). I'm on the trauma service for my surgery rotation in September, so I'll let you know how that is.

Pegasus,

Thanks very much for your post. I was specifically interested in the trauma rotation. Please do let me know how it goes. I'm certain that it is very competitive to get in such a rotation, so I would appreciate any tips as well.

I am interested in doing an EM residency in Florida, and it would be very exciting if that residency opened up for 2008. If you find any more information about the progress of the residency, I would appreciate you letting me know. Is the residency going to be AOA or ACGME? Thanks!
