So when I interviewed at Brown they said the committee would meet on January 19th, but I know some people who interviewed around the same time and had their status pages updated with acceptances. Anyone know if they met early, or if they are still meeting on the 19th? I'm assuming that they're just holding onto my app for now if I didn't get a status change.

I interviewed there on Dec 8 and still have not heard from them. Anyone else from my interview group hear from them yet?

Hihihihi,

I interviewed around Dec 9 and I got an acceptance over this weekend as shown by the website. Very excited!

they send it to you when you're complete

Did you receive it through mail or email? I emailed them about my application status but they never replied. I called them and the lady told me that she'll email me my status but she never did. 🙁

It comes via USPS.

Thanks, it's been a month now since I've been away from my apartment and I'm going back this Thursday. Hopefully I'll have the mail. 😛

How long after being complete do they update theh status page, or inform you of interview? I've been complete since Oct 27th and still no updates. They are making me nervous :scared:

Congtratulation!! What was the school like; I heard they're expanding to a class size of about 100 over hte next few years. Could you tell us about it?

I really really liked the school - it's small class size (I think they only take 30 MDs from the regular path), and faculties are very nice and responsive to applicant's questions. Everyone in the class will have an impact that affects the school, it's that close. Being the only med school in the entire RH, you will get all the connections you want. The name is good and traditional as a Brownie. The school is new (only 25 years), but it doesn't mean it's weak - there's a lot of things to explore because resources are there. The debt is a little less than most private schools too because they give out some scholarship (10-20% of a 55k first-year budget, I believe, don't quote me though) It's currently my 1st choice but I am still waiting for a few schools to get back to me (interview and acceptance...etc) But I really love Brown Med School...(they changed the name a few years ago so to probably sound more like other ivy's like Harvard Med School, Yale Med school...etc. =D)

hope that helps.

I really wish they would hurry up and send the decisions out ( Brown is my first choice).

TIMTIM, you may have been in my interview group...Dec 8?

Hey, I interviewed one week after you Dec 15......Remember what Dr. Weiss says about a late acceptance? you are probably in the catagory that "we just need to check something up and make sure everything is right" - so keep your chin up! Would you agree that they have a very supportive group of faculties? Everyone down there is so nice...why would you consider Brown as first choice?? Please share...

My theory is as follows: A medical school that treats its intervees well most likely treats its students as well, if not better. Also, I admire their philosophy in terms of allowing students to learn and pursue their own interests, especially at a time when teaching has become so pedagogical; if you have all these great minds, why not let each one do what it is most skilled at doing. Self-sculptors, if you will. Providence seems like a really nice city, which I prefer because places like NYC and Boston are bit crowded for my tastes. Overall, I just got a great vibe from the school as well as the students. And hopefully the admissions committee will repond soon.

Only 30 regular students? That's some rarefied air. And to think we've got two of 'em right here on these boards.

Kudos, you two 🙂

Yeah, congratulations guys. So you're going to be the first docs to respond to a code brown, right?

So it's the end of January. Everyone should know by now if they have an invite? I applied on the deadline, and they seemed swamped when I called about my secondary during late December.

They must be swamped. I interviewed in early December and they said we would have a decision by the end of the month. Now it's almost Feb. They just switched to AMCAS, so I would give them some time.

Good luck 🙂

HEY...I know Brown has many alternative routes of acceptance...BUT are you saying that they are just now reviewing there standard AMCAS applicants???

I was complete there about 4-5 months ago and haven't heard anything, and the website says my file is still "under review." I had pretty much given up on it, but I would like to know if there is still a chance for an interview.

I would appreciate input from anyone who might know, not just bbpiano1, thanks.

This is Brown's last month for standard applicants, which they interview for a 3-month period from Nov-Feb (about 300-350 applicants interview). They meet every two or three weeks to both invite people for interviews and accept...but they roll the rest of the applicants to the next meeting. I'm not sure if they are done, and I know they are kind of hard to communicate with until you get an interview, but good luck...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the associate dean of admissions at Brown told me yesterday that they were done giving out interview invites for this season.
