Would anybody happen to have any inside information concerning Brown's IM program (i.e. general work environment, busy call schedule, resident happiness, etc.) I'm planning on interviewing there for my prelim year. If anyone has an inside scoop on this program, please feel free to share. Thanks in advance.

Bump bump bump. One person I know told me it was "malignant", someone else told me it was a "great work environment." No idea what might be true or not, but anyone with some perspective would be appreciated.

(I'm applying as categorical, not prelim as the person above posted).

awesome program director...he protects his residents. Great work environment with out the slightest hint of malignancy. It's a very happy place with really good morale. Very good work/life balance. The only negative about the place is Providence, and that depends on your perspective. Go to the interview and talk to the residents actually there to find out 👍

Thanks! I've visited Providence and I actually liked it. Where I'm coming from, any place will be an improvement, though. I just wonder about Brown since it is not consistently "ranked" as highly as other places I've interviewed, but they seem to have a totally killer match list.

Someone in another thread mentioned something about being weak in research?

I've only heard amazing things about Brown, from people here and, most importantly, my friend there. She constantly talks about the supportive environment and is absolutely the reason I applied.

Current resident at Brown. Everything you hear about the program being friendly and happy people is true. Very supportive environment overall. The PDs tend to be very receptive to change and getting rid of things that are not working well for the residents. The program is large enough so you never feel like you're isolated in terms of social groups - fair amount of single people, married, and married with young kids. Are there some negatives? Of course but they are far outweighed by the positives. I feel that the program has prepared me well and allowed me to achieve my goals (just matched for fellowship). If anyone has more specific questions, I'd be more than happy to answer either hear or via PM.

What is the usual breakdown in terms of fellowship? What was this year's match at Brown like?
