i'd recommend seeing a doctor. the weird thing i got from shadowing in oklahoma (ie brown recluse land) is that brown recluse bites aren't necessarily all that bad. usually, you just get some antibiotics and go on your merry way. i guess sometimes it does a lot of damage, but maybe that's not the norm. 😕 don't know, anyway, i'd still see a doctor.

Yeah, if you've got one...go see a doctor, even if you aren't sure. They can get pretty nasty really fast.

All i know is that the bite area can turn all weird different colors (like a really bad bruise...sometimes even a blandish gray or black) and lots of inflammmation, redness, and swelling. Not fun

Try 'necrotizing fasciitis!'

Thanks, unfortunately, I have already tried that. I was able to find all the other information that I needed, but not the exact pathway that the venom takes as it travels through the body. I understand all the initial occurrences (with complement, etc) and that the tissue may eventually become necrotic, however, I need to find out what else the toxin does to the body and the pathway it takes. Most importantly, how exactly does it leave the body.

Thanks for your help, though.

Sorry, I don't actually have a patient with this condition, or have it myself, I am doing a research paper on this topic. I have been able to gather all the other relevant information that I need, but can't seem to find, or understand, the complete pathway the venom takes in the body.

If you can't find what you need on online resources, you might need to go to the library. What you are looking for might not be known. If you do find it, post an update so we will all know!

Antibiotics for spider venom? I thought Dr's were suposed to stop doing things like this? Or are the AB's suposed to help prevent other oportunistic bugs from getting in?

Maybe their fangs were dirty.

duplicate thread, so closing. Feel free to contribute to the open one in the pre-osteo forum.
(leaving that one open b/c it has more serious responses at this point)
