Hello,
I am new to SDN just wanted some feedback on which program you guys think is the best. I am a high school senior committing to college at the month. I was accepted to three BS/DO programs. Gannon/LECOM, SUNY Geneseo/NYCOM, NYIT/NYCOM. There are pro and cons to each program so I will just list them below. I am getting scholarships to all three universities but I don't think I will be getting any scholarships to medical school.

Gannon Pro:
18k yearly undergrad
30k medical school(cheaper than the other two programs)
only 16/17 credits a semester
only want a 3.4 gpa and a 3.2 in science classes
24 on MCAT
Con:
4 years undergraduate

SUNY Geneseo Pro:
15 credits a semester
SUNY Geneseo is a prestigious undergrad
3 year undergraduate
Cons:
3.5 gpa
28 on mcat
25k undergrad 50k medical school
NYIT Pro:
1 semester probation period in case gpa falls
cons:
3.5 gpa
28 mcat
19-21 credits a semester
25k undergrad 50k medical school

Any advice or feedback will be greatly appreciated!!!

Gannon/LECOM, 101K is a lot of cash, and low GPA, MCAT requirement

I think my first post was a bit misleading in regards to cost of attendance so I edited it with more information.

I think you should do the LECOM track. It's cheaper, and the requirements slightly more forgiving. Where you went to undergrad will have no bearing on anything once you are finished with everything. All that matters is how much you owe.

For undergrad I think Geneseo is a better school.

NY resident? SUNY is very inexpensive for NYS residents and if you're good enough to be accepted into their BS/DO program they'd likely offer you at least a partial scholarship. And hell if you do well you can apply to other schools couldn't you? Or is that a stipulation?

Out of state which makes my tuition 3times higher than a NY resident. The problem with Geneseo is that they haven't had many students complete their program. Some drop out, some get kicked out, and the faculty didn't seem to care much about the students in the program. The school only has 10 kids in the program but have had like 2-3 complete it. It's really hard to find the 2-3 students who have completed the program and ask for their opinion.

Then why are you even considering this program as an option? That's ridiculous.

It doesn't matter where your undergrad is if your goal is to be in medical school

Of course it matters. If people don't like where they're at, they will do poorly. Besides, part of college is the experience. BS/DO and BS/MD aren't guaranteed admissions. You still need to meet basic GPA and sometimes (depending on the program) MCAT requirements.

OP, as others have mentioned, it would be a good idea to choose LECOM especially due to the low requirements.

Do yourself a favor and go to a GOOD college, major in anything you want, and then apply to medical school. Combined programs never are a guarantee for admission. Plus, NYIT is a ****ty school and NYCOM is simply not worth all that money. Go to a cheap college but a good one, like SUNY or CUNY, and then apply to med school. If you and up at NYCOM four years later, great. If not, you may end up at a SUNY med school and pay even less. Don't do a combined BS/DO program its really not worth your time or money. And whatever you decide... DON'T go to NYIT. Or "next year I transfer". You will be miserable at that overpriced poor excuse for a college education.
