About how long does it normally take to complete a BSN as a second degree? I'll graduate college with a BA in Integrated Sciences and was wondering how many more years it would take me to get a BSN. Thanks!

If you already have the prereqs for admission through your 1st degree then a second degree bsn takes 1 yr. if not then it would be time to get the prereqs + 1 yr. not all bsn programs have a 2nd degree accelerated option. check out www.allnurses.com and they can probably point you in the right direction over there.
good luck

in the phoenix area, the fastest accelerated BSN is 18 months (that I know of)...that's AFTER the nsg prereqs are completed...

The Accelerated BSN Program (AccBSN)

The AccBSN program offers the BSN program to students holding a Bachelor's degree in a different field. The curriculum, philosophy and objectives of the AccBSN program are the same as those of the regular BSN program, but the AccBSN program is designed to be completed within a one-year (May to May) time frame. The AccBSN student completes a three semester course of study, beginning with the first Summer session, followed by a Fall semester, and ending with a final Spring semester. At the completion of the final semester, graduates are eligible to take the Registered Nurse licensure examination and to qualify for the California Public Health Nursing Certificate. The AccBSN program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

My accelerated / 2nd degree BSN program at Research College of Nursing in Kansas City is a 12 month program that runs from August to August. Before the start of the program, we are required to take 15 credits at Rockhurst University, which RCoN is affiliated with. I took all the 15 credits in the summer before the start of the program, so it ends up being a 14 month program.

It takes longer if you still need to finish your prereq's, but to be honest, the prereq's for nursing school are easy (as are most of the nursing school classes). The only difficulty in my program is the volume, not the depth of information.

Sigh...I wish there was a PA program in KC.

Too far. I don't want to move my family (and my wife's acupuncture practice), nor do I wish to see them only on the weekends.

We have a PA program in Wichita, Kansas and Springfield, Missouri, but none in Kansas City?!? None at Kansas University or University of Missouri at Kansas City? It makes no sense whatsoever.
