As you can see by the title of this thread i am wondering if a person can get admissions into a Psy. D. program with a BSW (with a psych minor)? Any advice will be very helpful. Thank you for your responses in advance.

Yes, you definitely can. Check out the website of programs you're interested in and find out what classes are required to get in since you are a psych minor. If you don't have all the right courses and they see you have a keen interest in their program, have a good GPA, GRE, experience, etc and know what you want, they would still consider you if you agree to take the additional courses you lack once you get in.

I would just caution that, although your undergrad major can be outside psychology, a program will require you to have certain prerequisites before before you can matriculate. They will generally not deny you admission if you don't have them, but you will be expected that you will take the classes before you can enter the program. These are typically, abnormal psych, experimental psych, statistics, among a couple of others.

Yes, you can. As others have mentioned the program may require that you take psych courses or perform well on the psychology GRE subject test. This is program specific so make sure you contact each department beforehand to see what their policy is.

thank you all for your replies. they are quite helpful.
