hi guys , i got 97 in my toefl and am having mixed feelings about this, so do guys think i should take the test again and i have to score at least a 100 to be considered a competitive applicant ???

if you are done with part 1 n 2, go for it. also, what country are you from? i ve heard that pakistanis n indians require a higher toefl score. on the contrary, mideast applicants get in easily with a 95ish..not sure

I think 97 should be fine. What are your other stats as In the gpa, volunteer work etc?

Hey Buddy, ive applied this year. application completed june 28th.
My stats:
Gpa 3.53
NBDE 1 passed
Toefl 109
What do you think my chances are?

ur stats r almost similar as mine with my gpa marginally good and toefl 3 pts bad . but i didnt get call from bu prev year . i think competition is tough and people with part2 are 75 % of the selected lot . i reccommend u to do part 2 n apply

Ya its better to take part 2. But a lot of people are applying even after part 2. I fail to understand their criteria.
My stats
gpa- 3.97
nbde 1
4 months of assisting in US
2 months of observership in US
1 year internship
3 months of volunteer work in home country
basic life support certification
Toefl yet to give
Few conferences.
I feel its really really hard these days..god knows

I think stats are good. Are you a masters? Or applying with bds?
Unfortunately, just a bds. But i have American Heart Association BLS and ACLS valid till 2016 MAY. I have a year worth of volunteer work as a dentist in INDIA. 3 months of associate dentist position at a private clinic also in india. I have no US experience but i have studied in the America before.

Thank you for submitting your application to the Advanced Standing DMD Program for Internationally-Trained Dentists at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

From March through July, Admissions focuses on bringing in the incoming class of students. During this period, we do an initial review of 2015-2016 cycle applications; close review of complete applications commences in August and continues throughout the cycle. Interview invitations may be issued at any point from September to February.

I look forward to reviewing your application with the Admissions Committee over the coming months.

Sincerely,

Hey friends, my GPA is 3.42. Is it too low to be considered for BU?
I think its a good GPA but thats not everything you need.
TOEFL, NBDE 1, NBDE 2 better. Experience, Volunteer work (USA preferred), Posters, Conferences CDE, PERSONAL STATEMENTS. good LORs

Whats stopping you from taking the toefl? just take the toefl and be done with it.
i think you have a great chance!

@tej1544,
I have passed both part 1& 2 but my toefl is always stuck in 90 s. It's 98 now. Does Boston allow interviews with toefl less than 100?

This is from the BU dental school website.
Minimum Requirement:
Listening 18
Reading 21
Speaking 23
Writing 22

Total score is not specified. But they consider the above criteria. If you have scores the same or above the minimum requirement, i don't see why they wouldn't allow you to interview. Personally, I do not think TOEFL is a competitive criteria rather its just a stipulation.

Even if you add the minimum requirement score, it adds up to 84. But thats not the criteria for selection, Individual section score is.

Hope that helps.
Goodluck!

My stats are -
Nbde part1 - pass
Toefl - 96
Bds - 3.48
Mds - 3.00 (endo )
Research work for a year
2 yrs work experience in india
3 months shadowing in US
2 Papers and 2 poster presented
4 CDE programms
And planning to give part2 by August.
I really want to know my chances of admission ??

Well clearly you have the added benefit of being an MDS. You have necessary work experience both in india and US. You have CDE points aswell.
I am taking the part 2 in late august.
i have similar credentials. except i only have BDS.

Hey thanks a lot. Well when we consider the individual sections on toefl, my scores are as follow::
R-24
L- 22
S-27
W- 25

But total of 98. [emoji45] I just see on the CAAPID application that they require 100. That's why I was worried.
Thanks anyways.

How much time does the caapid takes to verify the application and send the application to BU?
I have submitted the supplemental application fee to BU and submitted caapid application also. But I have not got any mail from BU, stating that they have my applucation.
I just submitted it two days back.
