Oh wow.. I am SOOOO mad!!! I just called the BU admissions office to check on my status and the woman asked why I had not heard from her... Obviously I didn't know what she was talking about so when she told me that an invitiation to interview was sent out on September 24th, I was clearly surprised... and MAD!!! I have been using my school email account and I never got it. She said the invitation would be resent and I could still get an interview but I am hoping my chances are not totally gone... How could this happen???

Oh man i am so sorry !! I don't think your chances are gone. BU isn't really a rolling school. They have only given out about 100 accpetances. Many of the interviewees are deferred till march. So you still have a great shot ! Good luck ! 🙂

what's odd about BU is that they sent the interview invitation to my "permanent" email address (hotmail) instead of my "preferred" email address (gmail). Then, it ended up in my junk mail folder of my hotmail. I only happened to be glancing through my junk when it caught my eye and almost gave me a heart attack.

check what you listed as your permanent email and see if maybe it got stuck there.

When I got my BU interview invite, I got it on my yahoo email instead of my more official one! I was surprised, too. Good thing it didn't end up in my junk mail or I would have missed it, too! Hope something works out for you!

I would be wary of using email systems like Yahoo! and Hotmail for important emails like interview invites. Their filter systems act funny sometimes, especially when you don't tweak it to make sure it's not filtering things that you actually want in your inbox. Stick to secure email that you avoid inputting onto the web (to avoid it being found and spammed, thus eliminating the need for spam filters). Usually your university email works well for that purpose.

wow this is scary; has anyone that was complete in mid november heard back yet from BU? I figure i should call and check my status tomorrow but just curious; surprisingly, this is the kinda stuff that slips my mind at work 🙂

that only works if you're a traditional student applying straight from undergrad. other people who work don't get free university emails =). and you don't want med school interview invites coming to your work email either.

they sent it straight to my school email and i had no problems. weird. did you call them to reschedule an interview? i dont think you will be at any disadvantage n that theyll understand.
hey lightnk102, do u think youll go to BU? you've lived in boston before right?

BU"s pretty high on my list right now, as it's the only school in an urban area that's taken me. My younger brother and cousin are up there as well (and my college roommate), and I lived there for a year.

What's nice about Boston is that it's very much a collegetown, which means that you'll have opportunities to meet other grad students if you get sick of your class. Tufts med, BU med, and Harvard med also have mixers where the students can mingle. It's a very small city, but much more conducive to families and such. I like to think of NY as the "early 20's" city, and Boston as a "late 20's" city, just because Boston's still a city, but much more laid back, a little more residential (think of a city that's all UES), and the bars close at 2 am (subways stop running at midnight).

I'm holding out hope for a NY school, but at this point in time, it ain't looking good.
