So from what I've gathered, there will be quite a contingency of SDNers at Boston University on 11/22.

Don't know what I'm doing afterwards; am staying with a friend at BU med the night before, and might be inclined to hop on the chinatown bus back to NY afterwards (work the next day). But it seems like the day's going to be llooooonnnngggg -- so at the very least we'll have all day together! Whoohoo, folks!!! Yes.

I'll be arriving at 7am on Sunday morning, so I'll have all day Sunday to hang out...

hey guys, yea im takin the bus up from nyc on sunday and im chillin w friends at HMS. what time does the day end on monday? im sure i will need a drink. or three. but my bus leaves at 5pm cause it takes mad long to get back to the city and i have my 2jobs and grad school to get back to the next day. do you know if cabs are expensive in boston? last time i took cabs in b-town i remember them being really pricey but i dont know if thats cause i had no idea where i was going or wasted or all of the above. thanks.

cabs in boston are incredibly expensive. especially if you're coming from new york where the cabs are relatively reasonable. what year are your friends at HMS? I have a few friends there as well.

my flight is at 7 pm on monday, but i'm also arriving on saturday morning and staying with friends at harvard kennedy. will be spending most of the weekend working on my thesis though =(. Boo...

yeah cabs in boston are mad pricey, i was shocked! new yawk has some awesome rates. my friends arent at HMS they are doing their PhDs there, they are first and second years. i am staying at some hotel near BU
im kind of a hotel snob, i cant stay w ppl and crash on their couches. actually, its more like if i stay wmy friends i know i will end up gettin boozed and stayin up late since i have no self control. is it just one interviewer one on one ? then whys the day so long! i need to look at the scheds again. ohhh whats your thesis on , lightnk? i have to work on mine too !🙁 im so behind!

funny. all of the interview groups i've been in have been predominantly women.

there are no couches for me. i'm staying with my undergrad college roommate at harvard kennedy in her nice queen-sized bed 🙂 . i hear you on the boozin' it up thing. i passed on staying with my younger brother when i realized that frat houses probably aren't that quiet.

the thesis is due on dec. 1 🙁 . only have 15 pages of the required 50. i am a obviously a paragon of virtue and organization.

you arent being watched the whole time. its only about the interview. the dean even tells u that you arent being watched or graded on anything but your interview. so dont worry.

Well, let me tell you a true story. I was at an interview and we were sitting in the admissions office with the admissions folks only about 20 ft away. One of the interviewers was standing around there and just listening. He was discreet, not really staring over at us the whole time, but he kept glancing our way. It turns out that he was interviewing one of the people in our little group there and the dude that was being interviewed was really pissed because he caught a glimpse of the interviewer's sheet and it already had a score on it. PRE-interview, the guy had already been evaluated. I'm not saying that you should be kissing everyone's behind the whole time, but most of us are pretty ebullient people, so less is more when you're just hanging out with your fellow pre-meds in the waiting room.

That's not to say that you shouldn't be social and chat with everyone, but when you're sitting there being a jackass and the interviewer sees that, they realise that THAT is your true personality, not necessarily the one that you put up in front of them during the interview. Don't get crazy and neurotic about it, just be a nice person to everyone and you'll be fine.
