hey guys,
i'm predent and looking to boost my transcript a little bit.
I've found info on UMDNJ-MBS...but i keep reading about BU Oral health concentration program. I cannot find ANY info on it. Is this the same thing as the 2 yr oral biology program @ BU? ANY INFO would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

bump.
i find it hard to believe that no one has any idea about what im talking about.

just passing by and noticed your post isn't getting any traction at all so hope i can give you what i DO know. the oral concentration is the special pre-dental pathway within BU's MA in Medical Science program (i'm currently in the regular medical one). the program website is ridiculously outdated (2000 perhaps? lol) so don't count on getting information that way. but basically you take similar classes as the MA pre-med students but you also take dental specific classes. i met a few oral health concentrators in the program but not sure how big their program is. i suggest you contact the GMS office regarding more info about the program. their office number is (617) 638-5255. hope that helps!

Hi,

Yeah, you should definitely give the GMS office a call. I'm in the BU MAMS program and my understanding is that to be admitted to the oral health concentration program you have to first be admitted to the MAMS program. You essentially take all the same courses as the MAMS students (because you'd be a MAMS student), but you'd also have to take oral health classes (e.g. oral biology, oral microbiology, etc.). Also, in order to be admitted into the oral health concentration you have to have taken the DAT. There's hardly any information on the web about it because (I think) very few people do the oral health concentration. That's why you should contact the office to get all your questions answered. Everybody I've dealt with here has been really helpful and friendly, so don't be afraid to give them a call.

Oh so that explains why I can't find any info on their website haha. For a moment I thought people were making it up. Thanks so much for dishing out some info, truly appreciate the help!

im in the BU-MAMS oral health program, i start this august. they accept 15 students looking to go to dental school per year for this program. you are basically looking at applying just like you would for dental school. Same criteria. You are taking classes with the first year dental students as well. It all finishes with you either doing a research thesis or a lab thesis. There are alot of these sort of programs for just medical, but not a lot for dental. You are not guaranteed a spot in their dental school or guaranteed a spot in any dental school. you are however given a chance to prove you can roll with the big dogs lol. anyways its a great opportunity and i am glad they accepted me. I would suggest going for it
