I was just about to submit my AADSAS app when I came across this Boston University prereq:

elective courses
Social Sciences. Three years (18 semester hours). The committee strongly recommends that the applicant's curriculum include courses in psychology, humanities, sociology or anthropology, and economics.

Do I really need 18 hrs of social sciences?? That's so many! I know i have 3 hrs philosophy & 3 hrs psych, but that's about it. What other courses could satisfy this? If i dont even meet the prereqs, might as well not even apply to BU and save the money, right? help!

Of all the courses you listed, I only had psy and economics (3 hrs), but BU still accepted me. 18 hrs of social sciences is...too much!

Wow, I actually never heard of this req. and no one said anything at my interview.... I did take Developmental Psych after Gen. Psych, though, but that was just to increase my "science" GPA 🙂 ...

I wouldn't worry..I know of several of my friends who have gotten interviews at BU. No mention was ever made of these prereqs..I think as long as you have 1 or 2 related courses you'll be fine.

"English. One year or the equivalent at the college level, even if the student received advanced credit on entry into college. "

How strict are they? I have 6 credits of AP english and took a writing class in undergrad, so i'd have to take one more english class in college to fulfill this. I called them yesterday and was told to take another class next spring, but i really don't want to waste my time in some worthless intro english class. THanks for the help!
