So I'm a little afraid to ask this question. Perhaps my synapses aren't firing properly or perhaps I have misdirected enthusiasm...

Boston University's website advises that all applicants should mail 3 SENIOR science LORs. My problem is that I'm an Anthropology major and its been a couple of years since I took any hardcore science class. 😳 So far, I have 3 LOR--1 from freshman GChem and 2 from sophomore physics.

So, how strict are they with this whole "must-be-senior-science-prof" schtick? Please advise. Thanks!

This is straight from the BU website:

3. Letters of recommendation should be included in the AADSAS application. The Admissions Committee values letters from persons who are able to provide a thoughtful, thorough, and candid assessment of an applicant's academic ability and potential for success in dental study. If the applicant's college or university has a premedical or predental advisory committee, its composite evaluation is required. In the absence of such a committee, the Admissions Committee requires three evaluations by senior faculty members, at least two of whom should be in science departments.

The letters dont have to come from classes you took in your senior year. They just have to come from a science professor. So your fine. What they mean by "senior faculty members" is that they dont want the letters to come from a teaching assistant, but from an actual professor.

I wouldn't worry too much about the LoR requirement because I only had 2 letters, only one of which was a science prof. I was a little worried about that too but haven't heard anything since I was accepted saying that I needed to get more letters.

Risky...I heard someone got booted out of NYU one week into classes because he never sent updated transcripts. If I were you, I'd get those letters.

yeah I heard the same thing, got stressed, and called admissions. I asked if my application was complete and whether there was anything that I needed to give them to secure enrollment and I was assured that my admission was safe, provided that I pay the tuiton of course.
