Has anyone gotten in off the BU waitlist or heard when it is going to start to move? Thanks!! 🙂

I just sent a LOI email to Witzburg and got an auto-reply that he is out of the office until 5/22. dont know if they will admit w/o him there.

I sent Dean Witzburg an email a few days ago and he said that the waitlist typically doesn't start moving until sometime in June.

This is the one im waiting for too...Good luck guys! :luck:

Just got a response from Cathy Wilder in Admissions Office. She claims there are currently no opening and she does not expect any movement until at least the end of June. Unbearable, but what can we do!?! Any current/ex-GMSers here, by the way?

If the waitlist is really as active as Dean Witzburg claims, how is that possible? Also, to have movement start that late they must have REALLY over-accepted

Well, reading that was a nice way to ruin my day. I cant believe we have to wait 6 more weeks....I seriously can't take this.

Same here. I was on 4 waitlists (and 1 hold) up until last week and thought my odds were pretty good. Then I found out (through SDN) a few days ago that Columbia isn't accepting many people off of the waitlist this year. There goes one. USC is apparently (again info from SDN) decreasing their class size from 180 to 160. There goes another. I received a rejection letter from AECOM in the mail last night. There goes a third. BU was my last hope, and it looks like that one is all but gone now as well. 🙁

I find myself really hoping that SDN people have no idea what they're talking about.

Regarding the BU waitlist, I do know a number of people who were accepted in previous years very late...a few weeks prior to orientation, so don't lose hope. However, I am under the impression that they accepted more people this year than in past years. I really don't know what to think with this years process. Sorry if that ruins peoples' days...

Please don't get discouraged. I know for a fact that BU anticipates on taking people off the waitlist, particularly if they write LOI's, etc. You really have a shot. Just be patient - I think they make the majority of their decisions in June and July. Be persistent and call Dean Witzburg when he is back.

Where did you hear this about USC. On my interview, I was told they were keeping the class size at 180. Also, they are taking people off the waitlist already. 3 SND people have been pulled and it is only four days past the 15th. Have a little faith....

It was posted in the USC class thread in Allo. I do try to take things said around here with a grain of salt, and know it could easily be a false rumor, but waitlists make me neurotic. 😛

Thank you Nick. I'm rallying back to my happy self fairly quickly, and your post certainly helps. 🙂

Still no word anybody? Man, after just graduating the impact of SUMMER just hit me - the torture of being on this waitlist is really taking in effect now that I don't have classes to distract me!! Does anybody have a guestimate of how much BU overaccepts?? After reading SDNers' comments on how great the look-back weekend was and how much it persuaded them to go there, I kind of wish they didn't have it and more people would have turned BU down!! :meanie:

Well good luck you guys hopefully we'll hear from them soon!! And congrats to any other new graduates!!! 😀 😀 😀

Where are people getting evidence to support an overacceptance this year?

I talked to Dr Vaughan last week (one of the folks on adcom) and she mentioned that with the jump in ranking this year (or thats what they think), there's hardly been any movement in the waitlist (which is very UNtypical, by this time of the year). Yes, they did over accept this year and she says that although the waitlist may move, they don't really expect much movement this year.

Just to clarify, straight from her mouth, Doc Vaughn herself said that they did over accept and that they don't expect that much movement?

yes. they might have a few movements but as of last week, she said that there are more people who are keeping their acceptances (than normally expected).
