For those about to start school, what are some of the things on your pre school bucket list? Every student I know is telling me to chill and do nothing this summer, so that's exactly what I'm doing! Heading to Puerto Rico in a few weeks for some chill time!

1) Going to California (I'm from the Midwest), renting a convertible, and enjoying a nice trip down Highway 1.

2) Catching up with friends and video games before I no longer have as much time for either.

sounds like fun!

I am working up till about 2 weeks till my start date and then I'm going to take a mini vacation. Gotta save as much money as I can. I'm also eating at all my favorite local restaurants. I'm going to miss all the ethnic food when I move to the midwest.

yeah I unfortunately have to continue to work too. Wish I could quit, but trying to save as much as I can before we move! Our loans wont be disbursed until mid August (we start late July), which totally sucks!

haha yeah and there are no Whataburgers where we are moving, so we are trying to get as much of that as we can lol

There are plenty of cities in the Midwest that have good ethnic food restaurants/grocery stores. And then there are also places in the Midwest where "ethnic food" means Taco Bell.

Where are you headed, if you don't mind my asking?

Kentucky, you?

From Missouri, headed to Iowa.

I wish I had done more research before applying. My #1 choice was TCOM (was waitlisted after interview) , and after that I didn't really care. Several people from my school went to kentucky and did very well and matched to good residencies (one to derm), so I figured I'd make that my #2. Once I got in there I did not even interview anywhere else. Regretting it now. DMU is a great school. One of the docs I work with now graduated from there.

I'm headed to Michigan. I know that there are some ethnic restaurants there but its definitely not as much as where I'm from.

1. Going to Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago right before classes start!
2. Completing the final steps for my masters
3. Spending many hours with my family and boyfriend!

Bonus: Make some money lol

1. Currently on my way to Disney World with my family.

2. Each as many chicken wings as I can before I leave for school (currently live near Buffalo).

3. Still waiting for Lake Erie to unfreeze, lots of fishing to do.

4. Hopefully climb Mt. Rainier in July.

My brother is graduating and we are going up to Alaska on a cruise. We get a full day in Vancouver to explore and another full day in Anchorage. I'm hitting up all the local breweries since I'm a craft beer fanatic. Maybe some poutine as well. I'm in love with Alaska so my bucket list will be fulfilled.

My preschool bucket list was mostly learning how to color inside the lines, something to do with TMNT, and beating Super Mario Brothers for the first time. I mean, I was four, bucket lists at that age really weren't all that extensive.

The biggest thing I miss from the PNW is the craft beers. So good..

There's some good craft brews in the Northeast, but nothing beats the PNW.

My latest craze has been craft beers aged in oak barrels, like Innis & Gunn Original or Lexington Brewing Co's Kentucky Bourbon Ale.

I&G is amazingly good, especially the rum cask. Haven't tried Kentucky Bourbon, maybe I'll give it a shot next time I'm at the liquor store. Only other oak aged beer I've had is Stone Brewing's Oaked Arrogant Bastard, which is awesome if you're into hoppier beers

My current beer of choice is Dogfish Head Midas Touch. It's made with barley, honey, muscat grapes, and saffron. It all adds up to a really complex flavor that is hard to describe, but damn tasty.

buttfrogs, driving all the way down highway 1 is pretty epic...good choice. probably the best day of my life was spearfishing jade cove in big sur, make sure to check that out.

here are my high priority bucket list items before august...

1. be able to dunk

2. win a shark fishing tournament

3. speak spanish

Luckily Texas has some amazing craft beers locally and we get a good mix of stuff from both coasts.

errthang is better in Texas

Don't study. Also, trying to do your best and succeed (even if it's early studying) is not gunning. Intentionally trying to deter classmates from succeeding so you sit higher? That is gunning.

Oh, and to address the poll at the top of the page, for the love of God, don't study before you start.

It's pretty widely accepted that studying before you start medical school is lower yield than a North Korean nuke. Don't do it. Enjoy what little time you have left.
