Does anyone know what the "INTERMEDIATE" status means for Buffalo. I have been placed on "INTERMEDIATE", which is not rejected, not accepted, and they said that they will move my application up or down as the year progresses. I am not a New York resident though.
The funny thing is that I got interviews to places better than Buffalo, so I don't know what's going on. How do I get off the "intermediate" list, and into the "invited" pool? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Yeah, I got the same thing. I heard that Buffalo is infamous for keeping people on waitlists forever, so is that what they are getting at? Isn't it a little early to tell us things like that?

Anyone in Buffalo and had this before?

Thanks

The interesting thing is that I don't really believe that there had thousands of 35+ MCAT and 3.8+ gpa. If you look at their stats they admit people with 30 MCAT and 3.55 gpa on average. And I am above that. I have family there and it would have been easier to go there to school (cheaper!). Plus Buffalo is such a cheap place to live in! And if you get bored you can always go across the border, the Canadian side of the Falls has a lot of attactions. I've lived there for a few years when I was younger.
Of course I am not going to tell them this at the medical school, when I talk to them.

I just got the email today too. I guess it's ok since it doesn't reject you outright but it does read really strangely.

hey guys-

I'm confused..you guys have interviewed at Buffalo and have heard? By email? I called the admissions office on Oct 15th and they told me everything would be done via mail. I interviewed late Sept and haven't heard anything yet.

Also, remember that they eventually accept around 300 out of the 450 they interview...

They're on hold for an interview....I interviewed at Buffalo the first week of September and I work for the School of Medicine. I know for a fact that they aren't telling anyone until at least next week about acceptances or rejections.

thanks for the reply. Yeah, the adcom told me next week as well. Do you know if they call?

They use snail mail, no phone calls or email.....that address form that you filled out before lunch was the place they will be mailing the letter. Hopefully we'll know by next Friday.
