Dear All!🙂!!!
Might I be so free to ask about yr experiences about bullying in OR? What would be examples, were they solved (and how) or not, and what were the consequences?
Many thanks!
Yr Jacky!

Something a wise anesthesiologist told me:

"If someones an a--hole to you, you got to be a bigger a--hole to them"

Bullies are usually very insecure, and you only have to stand up to them once.

For generic bullying (not the kind where a patients health is jeopardized):

On my rotations I find that fighting fire with fire usually doesn't work. Especially if your a med student/resident, most of the time you don't have the authority anyways. It just makes matters worse. You need to make them realize the errors of their ways by being passive aggressive.

Agree to anything they say... Follow everything they say to a T to a point it slows down everything... and continue doing this day in and day out. Eventually it will become so over burdensome that they realize the errors in their way.

Its great because if they complain, you just say "I'm doing exactly what you told me to do!"
