That just sounds stupid. How much more trouble will it be to just make new e-mails for each school? Probably not a whole lot..

Is it considered bad etiquette to bunk-email schools? Well, is there a way to hide "Bcc" and "Cc" on Gmail?

First they are BULK emails, not BUNK.

Two, by definition BCC = Blind carbon copy = nobody can see who else is BCC'd.

Lastly, what you would bulk email them? That you want to go there? That you are too lazy to write them a unique email?

Keep in mind that while the recipient cannot see who else was BCC-ed, he/she can see that the mail was BCC-ed to them.

You could use Mail Merge in Outlook to send it as a "To:" instead of a BCC, but considering it would be at most about 20schools it would probably be quicker to just copy and paste into a new email each time.

I hope the overwhelming consensus of "yes, it is considered bad etiquette" is being communicated effectively here.

Yes, and you can have placeholders for the school name which get expanded, etc. It can work quite nicely. On the other hand it has the potential for a serious blow-up-in-your-face. Which is why I would not recommend it for something as sensitive to people who have not used it before.
