Hi everyone,

I am taking the 7/16 MCAT and have been studying for it for a couple months but now I really cant do it anymore. I feel completely burnt out and no matter how much I force myself to study its not working. I still have the AAMC practice tests to take and my verbal needs much work still. So these last few days are very crucial for me but my burnt out state is really not letting me study effectively. And with the amount of stuff I still need to cover before the test i really cant afford to take a day offf.

I have sacrificed a lot for med school and this test and not getting a good score is really going to take a toll on me mentally. I would really appreciate any advice or help. Thanks.

Unfortunately, that was pretty poor planning to schedule 8 practice tests in 9 days. Have you used any other practice tests to gauge your performance and see where you stand?

I guess you are going to be forced to take the AAMC tests despite your mental state. See where you stand....if its not good, void your 7/16 test and take it again at a later date.

I highly recommend taking a Day off. I know it sounds really hard to do but that is what I did a week before my MCAT. I took mine on June 17th and trust me I was also burnt out! I took a day off completely as every one had recommended me and It worked. I was much more fresh and focused for the last week all in PUSH. It is your last week and I'm sure you have worked hard so taking a day off won't hurt you as much as it will help you. Just try to take at least half a day off with nothing MCAT related, JUST RELAX or do whatever you enjoy! GOOD LUCK MAN ! 👍

I took aamc 3 last week. Got a 10 on both BS and PS but my verbal was a disaster with a 7. I am working with EK 101 to see if I could bring that up. Just because my verbal score was so horrible I feel like I should spend the last week getting as much verbal practice as I can.

i was like you- i started my FLs and the majority of my practice passages way too late in the game and ended up feeling pretty tired and mentally drained the days leading up to my MCAT.

Right now, you're looking at 1 FL/day leading up to the test. You could probably scrap 1 or 2 of the tests if you feel comfortable with the format and get your timing down, but you're definitely in for a busy week. Are you doing anything else or just studying for the MCAT? I'd probably refrain from taking an entire day off since you are cutting it pretty close.

What basically got me through the last week leading up to the MCAT was listening to music and reading books that really motivated me- got me amped up for anything so i at least had the energy to tackle studying- and exercising and training in short intervals- anything to take my mind off of the mcat for at least a little while. Make sure you're eating healthy- it's amazing how much better you feel, physically and cognitively- and getting enough rest. Good luck and know that while you're in for a tough week, it's definitely doable- i was in the same exact position and actually scored 3 pts higher on my MCAT than my aamc averages.
