Random thought i suppose. And I know this will depend on where people are/the population/etc BUT ... what are some of the busiest times in the ER? Late at night? During the day? between 2am-6am?

Early evening. After the family practice / walk-in clinics close, but before the time when people are too tired to come in for their $300 workup for sore throat x 3 days.
Agreed - the 5 PM to 3 AM shift is murder because parents have come home, find their kid is sick, and then come to the ER. Meanwhile, at 10:00 PM the attending coverage drops from 2-3 attendings to 1, and it becomes agonizing.

In my area we do have the evening rush but we always get hit hard from about 10 am to 2 pm. All the people who woke up sick and called their PMDs start getting the prerecorded call backs (If-you-are-sick-must-go-to-ER). All the people who called their bosses are wandering in to get their work notes and you know, day time TV is just awful so why not head to the ED?
It's a little later for us. Most weekdays start to get busy around noon. None of our patients have PMDs, so it's a factor of when they wake up, realize they are hungry and decide to come to the ED.

Saturday nights are busy for trauma, but overall patient load is quite small and the walk-in waiting area is virtually empty...people are too busy enjoying their weekend to come in for their "emergencies". 🙄
4p-11P. Our ED stays reasonably busy until 1 or 2 AM, then *usually* starts slowing down. Unfortunately, there is an early AM rush around 6 or 6:30 that makes getting out at the end of shifts (8AM) tricky.
Weekends, in general, are busier. Mondays and Tuesdays are surprisingly busy as well.
