Are finance/accounting and other business majors looked down upon by med schools for being too vocational rather than academic?Anyone has any idea about this?

I'm sure you'll be fine. Just don't get a crappy GPA

I'm a finance/accounting major from Goizueta business school (Emory university). My advice, if you're a BBA, you definitely want to have some work experience in your field before you decide to apply to med school. I worked in VC for 2 years and then decided to make the switch. Went and did a post bac for my prereqs and smoked them, then applied. I got in and will be starting school this summer. I really feel like my business experience was a major plus to my application. It made me a different applicant and I stood out. I also had to truly explain why I wanted to go back and become a doc.

Oh and my undergrad GPA wasnt anything stellar. My GPA started over when I joined the B-school; however, when I applied to med school all those other classes came back into play. I think before my post bac my GPA was around a 3.2

34O on the MCAT w/ a 14 and 12 in the sciences. that def helped.

Good Luck

This does give me some encouragement although I don't think I will want to gain work experience after college being already a non-traditional student and age is not on my side...
