I am a junior in high school with a 3.7 gpa and a 1920 sat score. I am very interested in butler's PharmD program and have been looking into it for a while. The only problem is I dont know if i wil be able to afford it. So my question is, does anyone know how much money i should expect to receive in scholarship money? Also, butler suggests that you do not work during school, so will i be able to do this and still afford school? I really want to focus 100% on school but i dont know if i will be able to do this at butler.

Why don't you contact the Butler admin to see if your Stats is good enough to be accepted to Butler 0+6 program. I heard it is very competitive for high school kids to get in their program.

They do have scholarship, the pharmacist I work with got scholarship 7 years ago, things may change.

Even if you work, you won't able to make enough money for school. so the best choice is to get a loan.

I might be mistaken, but I thought that if I was accepted to butler then I was automatically in the program if I chose prepharmacy as my major? Can anyone validate this?

you are right. If you apply for pharmacy, you will be placed in that program.
after 2 years, you have to take the PCAT and score a composite above 60 in order to continue. It is their new rule, some kids just failed in pre-pharm two years so they set up a new rule. You do not need to apply to PharmCAS like 2+4 schools.

I applied to Butler for Fall 2003 when I was in high school, but it was for psychology, I think. I got a scholarship offer - I think like 10-14k a year - but Purdue offered me a better scholarship so I went there instead. I had a 4.0 GPA and 1450 SATs (back when they were out of 1600).

5 year later, I've decided to return to school for pharmacy, and I'll be attending Butler! Now I'm a transfer student with a BA so I don't think I'm even considered for scholarships. Wow, I wish I would have gone there in the first place for pharmacy... I would have saved lots of money.

angelacl, that's too bad you didn't go to butler the first time around! Even though my stats arent as good as yours were I think I will get some sort of scholarship. I don't think they will expect me to pay full tuition without atleast a little help. Well thanks for your help and if anyone else has any idea about how much I should expect to receive in scholarships could let me know that would be awesome.
