Did anyone use the LOE services at their school and have any problems with schools? I just checked UCSF and it states that "All letters must be received at AADSAS by the October 15th deadline or your application will be regarded as incomplete and will not be considered. Do not submit letters of recommendation directly to UCSF. Additional letters will not be included in your application file."

I thought I'd save a lot of time by using the services at my school but it seems that it might cause potential problems?

It might. If I remember it correctly, Louisville is like that too.

I used my school's LOR service and ran into that problem with UCSF. To resolve it, my school had to send my LOR package to AADSAS. Kind of a roundabout way to get it there but using the school service had several advantages that made it worthwhile. Check with your school b/c at first mine refused to send my stuff to AADSAS. Eventually they gave in, after realizing UCSF wouldn't be changing their policy.

My LOE service actually wrote on their site that they will accept the matching forms required by AADSAS (and send it to them). But I thought instead of sending all letters to AADSAS I would just send the letters directly to the schools I'm applying to, saving me the dreaded process everyone goes through with the slow proccesing. Now knowing that some schools don't accept it I guess I'll have to go through AADSAS. This will be a little tricky since they accept so many letters (4 I think?) while some schools have specific people they want letters from.

I'd still use your schools service if they will hold your LOR for >1 year (in case you have to reapp) and also if you are ready to get your LORs right now. That way by app time they will be in your school file and ready to go to AADSAS. That part doesn't take nearly as long as verifying your GPA. As far as schools w/ limits on letters, I know on UCSFs secondary application you designate who your LOR writer is for each area required and they will discard any other extra letters they get with your file. All the other schools I applied to didn't care if they got extra letters.

I used the LOE service at UW and I'm pretty sure that all of the schools that I sent my letters to received them no problem. However, I also made sure that the schools that I was sending them to were willing to accept Letters from the service, as opposed to AADSAS. So I avoided some problems that way. I couldn't apply to all of the schools that I wanted to, but that wasn't a big problem in the end. So just make sure that you call the schools up and ask them if they are cool with you doing that before you send the letters.
