Hi there -- Anyone take the C&A boards yet? Either old or new format? Looking for advice. Focus on this, don't stress this (e.g. is it worth memorizing incident rates? Lists of predisposing factors? etc) I did well enough on the adult boards by studying Beat the Boards and Kauffman neuro. I got BtB for child, and it feels... slim. Maybe that's just the state of child, but it doesn't feel as meaty. Anyhoo, any advice appreciated. Thanks!

I took them last year, old format. I was more diligent about studying for the adult boards. I thought that the actual exams were similar to the PRITEs; the child PRITEs seemed to have a higher proportion of very specific and esoteric questions than the adult PRITEs. I was pleasantly surprised by my scores on the child PRITEs and figured (accurately) that the real exam would go the same way. I didn't like the textbook that we had used in my fellowship and instead bought the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: the Essentials by Cheng and Myers and read over the chapters that covered topics I felt less certain about. I also went over the old PRITEs that I had. The oral adult boards were a miserable experience and I signed up for the Beat the Boards course to prepare for the child oral boards; it was probably overkill, but I was far less stressed the day of the exam and the week afterwards.

Unlike some people, who always have alot to say about nothing with no specifics.
