The topscore outline says to know about different types of dna. I know that cdna is one type. It mentions it in cliffs and this is what wiki says about it. Do i need much more than that? or should this deffinition due?

"In genetics, complementary DNA (cDNA) is DNA synthesized from a mature mRNA template in a reaction catalyzed by the enzyme reverse transcriptase.[1] cDNA is often used to clone eukaryotic genes in prokaryotes. When scientists want to express a specific protein in a cell that does not normally express that protein (i.e., heterologous expression), they will transfer the cDNA that codes for the protein to the recipient cell. cDNA is also produced by retroviruses (such as HIV-1, HIV-2, Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, etc.) which is integrated into its host to create a provirus."

THANKS!

thats the correct definition for cDNA, thats what i learned about it when i took a molecular bio course.

when topscore says to know diff types of DNA, i think they meant different types of RNA. Like rRNA, tRNA, and mRNA.

Does anyone else think this is too in depth? I was not sure if this was enough. I mean if they ask a question on it I would think you would at least need to know a basic definition. Any other thoughts?

the main thing here is that you are creating a template POST-processing. So your piece of DNA has no introns, and therefore prokaryotes can use the gene if inserted.
