I took my 6 credits of College English in my freshman year (10 years ago) and got C- for one of them (3 out of 6 credits). Since it is recommended to have grade not lower than C for prerequisite courses at most of the DO schools for admission, I plan to take another College English course this summer to improve my grade.

Do I need to wait until I finish the English course this summer (at the end of August) before I submit my primary application?

That's interesting, because a C- is a failing grade at my school.

It is not recommended. It is a requirement. You have the option to retake and be okay everywhere or you'll have to contact each individual program and ask for a waiver.

You can apply before the retake, but you will be required to have it by matriculation.
