C- grades

I've looked, and I keep finding contradicting information about retaking classes that you've received a C- grade in. Some say that a C- is not a passing grade and needs to be retaken. Others say that since grades are averaged if you retake a class by amcas, it is pointless to retake a C- and that it is a passing grade.
My C- is in calculus 2. I want to know whether or not I should retake it or not.

If you are certain you can get a better grade, retake the course. It will boost your GPA.

I say the majority of time you do have to retake a C- since the requirement is a "C" for most schools. Some schools give exemptions to C-, but you don't want to be the candidate dealing with that crap. Yes, the new grade will count as a subsequent class for AMCAS, but the point is you need to have a passing grade to get admitted to med school.

Thanks for the answers. I am going to retake the class mostly because I don't want to deal with the stress I will have over it if I don't even if some say one C- is excusable. My GPA is good as of now (3.67) so maybe retaking the class will raise it even more.

Keep in mind that grades are averaged for MD schools and replaced for DO schools.

Retaking a course for MD purposes is computed the same way as taking a different course and getting an A. Both grades are used to calculate your GPA.

Maybe true for osteo schools but only 1/25ish allo, schools I applied to said C or better.
