So I am a freshman in college and my bio class is not going well, all it is, is me being lazy but not I got to start really trying but I am worried I will end up with a C in general bio 101. What would I need to do to get into dental school if I got a C in bio, would that look terrible on my application or would dental schools look past that if I improve. Let's say overall by the time I am applying, my overall and science gpa's are both above 3.6, would that C affect me much if at all?

Nope, a C wouldn't matter if you attained a 3.6 in addition to the biology section on the DAT to help you as well. Take those lessons learned from this semester and improve upon it in the spring.

One C will not destroy your application. Just start getting good grades from now on.

Alright thanks for at least cheering me up! Just down on myself because I waited last minute to study for my bio exam tomorrow and don't think it will go well. But I am going to stop this and change my study habits now because I do really want to be a dentist and can't afford to have anymore bad grades, luckily this is the only class I am struggling in.

Just don't get a C- because you will have to retake it then. A C is fine..but Iwouldn't get anymore than that...

Well if I did end up having to retake it and got an A, how would dental schools perceive that? Would they even see my first grade or only the retaken one?

You don't have to have retaken it when you're applying. Just make sure you get a higher grade than a C- the next time you take it. I got a C- in a chem class freshman year and am currently retaking it. I am doing perfectly fine on my interviews because my grades have been very high ever since. Although your university may perceive a C- as passing (as mine did), dental schools won't. You will have to retake it at a community college.

I see, thanks! I am probably stressing for no reason and will do solid on this exam, but we'll see. I am getting around a 82%(B) right now so I am well in the running to get a B in the class and that's what I am really hoping for, because I am easily going to get an A in chem, but I'll just have to take the exam and go from there. Thanks!

well shoot for the a, and a good second place would have to go to the b. Just dont settle for c's
