C in Med School Pre-requisite Class Ruin my chances for MD School?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
haha I think I need to get off of SDN for the rest of summer, pray more, meditate, watch TV and enjoy the rest of summer because as of now I just had a car accident today and need to take it easy and forget about stress and just be a little kid again haha

good luck everyone and goodbye for a few weeks!

Damn, that sucks. Good luck! 👍

I'm retaking the class...this summer was one of those FML moments:/

I got a C. I didn't retake it. I'm in medical school. Therefore, it is possible.

Don't make too many of em though. My GPA was a 3.9... it may have been a different story with a 3.4.

I passed the course with a C....now off to more interesting courses....chem 2 is not my forte...let the year of hell begin: physics and orgo!

only God can save me:/

YES BUT THAT C RUINED MY CHANCE ALREADY?!!!!

MOST MED SCHOOLS WILL NOW AUTOMATICALLY REJECT ME BECAUSE THEY LIKE TO SEE A'S AND B'S IN PRE-REQS ESPECIALLY...

I don't know I guess I'm relaxed as I type this and my breathing is fine, but in the end, I just feel like a depressed fool who dreamed big and realized he was nothing but average:/

Doctors need to be smart too, it can't all be luck, hard work, and dedication.

No. Stop being sad. The C is still going to be there. Just study harder.

Physics and orgo = easy peasy.

JK. Although it is very doable if you study the right way.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with gen chem, but physics wasn't fun.

Organic wasn't bad, though. I'm just not a math person.

I got a C in orgo 1. i got into med school.

you just have to be able to answer when they ask you about your grade in the interview (usually asking "how do you feel about the grade you got in gen chem?") and the important thing is to make up for it and talk about all the ways in which you've shown proficiency in that subject since then (e.g. mcat scores, did research involved in it, got A in gem chem 2/orgo whatever.)

Like someone else said, chemistry is not necessarily an easy topic for everyone. It is manageable thought, maybe get a tutor. You still have chances at being a doctor.

I agree your hopes and dreams arent over because of one C, just make sure you do very well in the rest of your pre reqs and science classes. Gen Chem is just the precursor of things to come, so stand back on your feet and get ready for the rest of the pre med journey...its a long one.
