Im a 20 year old business management major that has finished almost all of the dental pre-reqs with mostly As and Bs, but in Ochem 2, I just got a C-. I take the DAT this summer, and was going to try and apply this summer. What can I do? I dont want to set myself back a year, but I just dont know when I could re-take Ochem 2. Any ideas?

Take it over the summer if you can, while studying for the DAT. If that's not possible and your GPA is fine other than that one class, apply anyway and make it clear that you would retake the class sometime before matriculation.

100% take it again. Ive been asked about specific grades within classes and you want to have a solid grade in organic chemistry because it is an important class.

GPA is decent, although definitely hurt by a 4 credit science class since Im a business major, but yeah unless I take it this semester, it would be after I apply, because its only offered second block in the summer.

Take it in the summer. its a one month course and it'll be hectic, but for the most part, it'll be just review for you. Second block? So I'm assuming it'll finish in July. Study for DAT now while you can without jeopardizing grades. Submit application as soon as your transcript is updated, since you can't update it until winter.

Thats what I did when I failed general chemistry. Though, I didn't have the DAT to study for.

It'll be difficult, and it'll tire you out, but in 6 months your work will pay off and its just a waiting game after you submit your application.

You will have to retake the class as a C is the minimum. You have plenty to retake, during the summer or as a planned course. My advice is the summer because you might need to take biochem later on. And for most schools biochem is reccomended.

Definitely retake the course..

Dental schools typically use your grades in OChem as an indicator of how well you retain new information, considering it's unlikely that you're exposed to that sort of information in prior course.

Is C the minimum everywhere? I can't find the "minimum grade" information for one school in particular. Not that I have a C or am expecting to get one but curious

I believe it is for most schools. At least the ones I applied to. A C is a 2.0.
