I had never received a grade below an A- on a science course in college, so I was bit surprised by the C. Got an A in Organic Chemistry I, but II is just a totally different beast. I heard that Organic Chemistry I was more relevant to medicine than II.

What other courses should I take to make up for the C in O-chem II? I'm also afraid because I am worried this is a sign I will not be a good medical student / future doctor. On a related note, what science class do you think is most indicative of being a good physician? I ask only because my O-chem II professor brainwashed us into thinking that if you were bad at the skills required to do well in O-chem, you lack the analytical skills necessary to be a competent physician. I would love to take a more relevant course and do well in it....

Biochemistry and/or any upper level chemistry course would help, but be sure you fix what went wrong otherwise it'll end up even worse.

Lots of successful medical students got couple bad grades in undergrad. Don't stress.

Yes, having problem solving and strategic thinking ability is important as a physician, but a mediocre grade in orgo doesn't mean that you don't have these skills, just that you should try and develop them more. I don't think there is any single class in which performance correlates to your ability to be a successful physician.

You got one bad grade after a lot of very good ones. Study extra hard for orgo on the MCAT (though IMO orgo was the easiest part of the old MCAT because multiple choice orgo = lol) and you'll be totally fine.

Biochem or an upper level genetics course. Maybe take a biochem lab too.
