Hi folks,
How stringent are CA schools with handling residency?

I've lived in CA for the past 8 years paying taxes, voting, owning a car, etc. I was a CA resident. Recently, I started working in Cambridge, MA, but my wife still lives in CA and I spend at least half my time there with her. I also still pay CA income tax, vote there, own a car there, etc.

I've listed myself as a CA resident with AMCAS, but am a bit concerned I might have issues after any acceptances (hopefully) roll in.

What do you folks think? What has your experience been maintaining residency for admissions purposes.

Cheers,
Sam

I was concerned about my California residency too, since I have remained out of state following graduation while I am waiting for my wife to graduate.

I emailed UCSD about it, and they said they don't offer "preliminary" decisions regarding residency but told me to look at this website
http://students.ucsd.edu/finances/fees/residence/index.html

I called UCD about it, and asked me a list of questions (if I've kept my CA drivers license, paid CA taxes, voted, etc) and then said I would be considered a resident.

I think if you follow the steps on this site http://students.ucsd.edu/finances/fees/residence/temporary-absences.html
that you will be fine. I am listing California after investigating the situation
