For anyone planning to attend UCLA or UCSF, just want to make sure everyone who's elgible has heard of this program. If you're the child of a veteran that has a service connected disability (even a 0% disability), your tuition will be paid by the State of California. There's no limit on your age, only on your income (must be less than ~$10k, which is easy for a dental student). Your parent doesn't even have to be a CA resident, just you do. Here's a link with more details:

I used this for undergrad and it's ridiculously easy to apply for. I'm pretty stunned I got into a CA public d-school and will be able to use it again. It doesn't cover everything. It didn't pay for books and I'm thinking it might not cover equipment in d-school. But still the savings is huge. If your parent was in the military, ask them if they have any disability registered with the VA. If they don't, ask if they were ever injured but never filed for a disability. It's still possible to get it, even decades after the injury occured. My father was injured in 1967 and didn't apply for his disability (sinus problems related to getting his face getting busted up) untill 1998, when I heard about this program. It could save you >$100k in d-school.
