I have a bad gpa around a 2.9 and I wanted to take classes after i graduate somewhere else, I was thinking a JC or maybe even a cal state? JC would be great bc classes will be easier but will this be looked down upon? Also, anyone know approx how much cal state extension classes cost??? Their ext sites are difficult to navigate sometimes and i haven't found it yet and has anyone gone down this route???

Thankss!!!

Hey,

When doing my "informal" post-bacc work I took my classes at a Cal State and the local LA Community Colleges. I took a few classes at CSUN and then took other classes at LACC, LAVC, and ELAC. The CSUN classes were running around $400 a class. The CC colleges about $100.

My GPA wasn't that hot just like yours (Cum 2.78). I took about 6 classes and managed to raise it up to a 3.18 (with AACOMAS grade forgiveness). This is my second time applying. The first cycle only applied to only Allo schools but LATE and received 2 interviews and 2 waitlists/not accepted. This year I'm applying to both allo and osteo schools a lot earlier and hoping to get in. I have a 29 MCAT and hope that will help balance out my lower GPA for the DO schools. For allo schools, I'm just praying to sneak in somehow.

I saw you posted on the "What are my chances" thread, so I just want to let you know that if really buckle down and do well on the MCAT (above the osteo acceptance average) you'll be able to balance out the lower GPA after your post-bacc work. I'm hoping to get an acceptance at any school this year and I think I have a decent shot. I have good EC's and LOR to go with my app. Just keep working at it and don't let anyone discourage you. If you have any questions, you can send me a PM. Good Luck!

if u've already taken all the prereqs during ur undergrad.... I would suggest you to do a SMP.

I would do an SMP but I haven't taken physics yet. I think most SMPs want you to have all the physics done, and I still have to take the MCAT.
