Hello

Fall quarter i was planning to take physics for engineers one and three and calc 2. However, today i got the letter that i got to the cell bio class at the different school. My question is: Should i take calc or bio? By the way there are several sircumstances which are:

1. I failed cell bio last year it is going to be a retake.

2. If i dont take it at my previous school can i retake that class at the different school, and will med school consider its as a retake?

3. At the school which i am right now i already took second bio (animal biology). I cant devide biology courses (thats for my bachalors).

Calc will be beneficial for physics... I dont really care about it because proff which i am going to have has open notebooks exams.. However, calc 2 and 3 are requirements for my major.

Please help me to decide because i have one day to pay my tuitions...

I would take the cell bio class. Retakes at other schools are fine, as far as I know (and I've filled out AMCAS and done all that jazz). Calc 2 would be nice for your physics class, but you should be able to do without it.

Just my 2¢.

there's no way around cell, u must master cell bio to get good points on the MCAT.. for this reason, I think u should take the cell class, besides, calc 2 is no easy class to defeat...

I've never taken cell bio. It seemed to have worked out for me.

that said, I quit calc 2 after a day because I knew I would fail it.

I don't really even understand your situation... but just FYI, taking calc 2 isn't really necessary for intro physics. The most you'll really do is basic integration and differentiation. On a similar note, content-wise, I actually found calc 2 to be a lot tougher than I would have expected... Calc 3, ODE, as well as Linear Algebra, were all probably easier.

Hey guys i think u little bit misunderstood my situation... Yes i will retake that class anyways. However, right now i go to X college before this school i used to go to Y (i failed cell bio in this school). So i already took 2nd bio at X (animal biology). So two more classes and i will finish series. However, if i do retake of cell bio at the fall quarter at the Y i will have to take the whole series at this school (that includes animal bio which i already took and got a descent grade) or either after that retake cell bio at the third time at the bellevue, take plant bio and finish. I cant devide series between schools thats because of the admissions for my BA... I know its very confusing...

I am not good at math at all...... So u say that 2nd calc is not necessarily for physics, thats really good 🙂🙂🙂

So did i get it right that AMCAS dont care where u do retake... they will average ur grade anyways???? Thats basically means that i can do retake at the diff school right?

cell bio totally sucked at my school. What a weeder class.

yes, you can retake it wherever you like

and don't take calc 2 if you're not strong in math.

Cell Biology would be the most beneficial to you because you failed it on a previous attempt (don't want F grades unopposed by As) and because it is course that provides key information that will be useful for the MCAT and in medical school. One semester of Calculus is more than enough for non-calc Physics (which will fill the pre-med prerec). If you feel that you will struggle with math, then the second semester of calculus will likely become another poor grade for you to repeat with little benefit in terms of being competitive for medical school admission. If you are poor in math, you may want to look into another major that isn't so "math-intensive". The subject matter of your major is not crucial but your performance in said major is of paramount importance. Regardless, that failure in Cell Bio is costly and needs to be taken care of. Be sure that you do not achieve any grade less than A.

Hey guys, thanks alot for your advises. Yes, i decided to take cell bio instead of calc. So today i went and payed my tuition and then dropped calc. Hope it will work our well!😉
