Hey guys I just wanted to know how med schools will view the fact that I am taking calc I at a community college? I took 14 credit hours both semesters my freshman year at my state school. I dropped calc both semesters because I took the class way to lightly compared to my sciences classes and I didnt want to get a B in a relatively simple class. I dropped pretty early so I never got a W and its not on my transcript. I am taking it now at a CC. Will med schools see that I took the class at a CC? If they could see it how would they view it?

I don't think it's too big of a deal. I did the same with calc 2 for similar reasons. Plus, math isn't required for most medical schools, only recommended.

Stats is the way of the future. Don't know if I'd even bother with Calc unless you need it for your major. I'm taking a year of stats and I'm feeling that it's a much better prep for research/medicine.

Yea I understand the stats thing. I just wanted to know if med schools would be concerned that I am taking this class over the summer at a cc? Would they even know I took it at a CC?

Well, they will know where you took it. That shouldn't be a problem for you though, especially if you take your science pre-reqs at university. If it ever comes up in an interview, you could say that you took it at cc to save money. Good luck.

It doesn't matter. You can take all your pre reqs at a CC and still get into medical school.

A lot of schools still require Calc I. Calc II is falling out of popularity and Stat is rising though, as you said. Calc I + Stat is perfect.

My undergrad university requires Calc and Stats for Human Bio degrees. This seems to be the best route

At most you might get a question about it in an interview, but I doubt even that much. Just have a better answer than "I kept dropping it during the regular school year" prepared in that off chance and then don't worry about it. Taking CC classes over the summer is hardly an uncommon occurrence.
