Patient K had the LOWEST concentration of calcium out of all the patients.

So, I thought the answer was C because I thought that low amounts of PTH and high levels of calcitonin would be causing low levels of calcium.

The key says that because of the low calcium, there would be high levels of PTH and low levels of calcitonin. There's kind of a mix-up between the cause/effect relationship here ... anyone want to help clarify?

I think you want to look for the EFFECT (not the cause).

You have low calcium. Your body wants to make it normal again (increase the calcium to normal levels).

PTH INCREASES Ca2+ levels. Calcitonin DECREASES Ca2+ levels.

Thus, you want more PTH and less calcitonin.
