Ok so I came across this question in my microbial ecology class. I remeber studying this for the DAT but I dont remember it anymore. Does any of our Bright SDN predents remember how to approach this?
When calculating Reduction Potential for a redox pair if the number of electrons are not balanced would you multiply the reduction potentials by the coefitients you used to balance the #electrons?
For example: lets say Fe2+ ( donates 1 e) is the electron donor and Oxygen is the electron acceptor (accepts 2 electron) would you multiply the reduction potential of Fe2+ by two?
 
You never multiply by coefficients in redox problems. Electrical potential is an intrinsic property so it stays same regardless of stoichiometry. Hope that helped.
