I'm a Canadian applicant and my university runs on a semester system, fall (september-december) and winter (January-april). Each semester we have to take a minimum of 5 courses to be considered full-time students. For my 1st year, this is how the course "credit hours" are divided for each course and I just wanted to make sure if this was the way to determine the 90 semester hours in total which most schools ask for.
Fall semester:
Bio 1 (Lecture: 3hrs, Lab: 1.5hrs)
General Chem 1 (Lecture: 3hrs)
Intro. to programming (Lecture: 4hrs, Lab: 1hr)
Calc 1 (Lecture: 4hrs, Lab: 1hr)
Physics 1 (Lecture: 4hrs, Tutorial: 1hr)
Winter semester:
Bio 2 (Lecture: 3hrs, Lab: 1.5hrs)
General Chem 2 (Lecture: 3hrs, Lab: 3hrs)
Physics 2 (Lecture: 4hrs, Lab: 1hr, Tutorial: 1hr)
Calc 2 ( Lecture: 4hrs, Lab: 1hr)
Total hours in my 1st year: 44 semester hours
So I would need to do 46 (90-46) more semester hours in order to be able to apply to med schools right? Obviously I would still need to take the required pre requisites in my 2nd and 3rd year but I am confused about the 90 semester hours most schools ask for.
