Divide the number of views by the number of posts for the school-specific thread. It's not very accurate, but I was surprised at how this seemingly random number was able to pick out four of the most prestigious medical schools. Perhaps there is a correlation?

Top 6 Prestige Scores (Views per Post):

1. Northwestern (188)
2. Tufts (165)
3. Stanford (155)
4. Harvard (151)
5. UPenn (145)
6. JHU (143)

I find, anecdotally, that the most immature people I know are those who also just have to get into a prestigious school.

I guess your screen name applies true.

Seems like this would calculate the school most likely to enroll the most lurkers

without a statistical test to determine if your data is significant, your results are ... meaningless.

Uh, yeah. It's because they're big names. Big names are big names and called big names because people talk about big names, and some of them want to go to big names.

I actually thought it was sort of interesting.

+1

Also, it probably took about 20 minutes to compile this information from the school specific forum. You don't even have to click through the threads, you can get the views vs. posts stats from the main page.

Lesson learned: Go to Tufts over Hopkins or Harvard.

I was hoping for some type of formula based on the number of vowels in their names + location modifiers and all sorts of other statistical fun 🙁

But it's not that people are talking about big names, as that would raise the post count thus lowering the views per post number. Rather, something about a big name makes people click the thread without having anything to contribute.

I think the reason for the high views per post for big names is that people who aren't applying this cycle are more inclined to follow the threads of their "dream" schools. They do this to hopefully learn information that will help them get into these prestigious schools.

I'm not exactly sure what it is about Tufts that attracts non-posting viewers.
