Calculus 2

Should I take Calculus 2 if it is not required for any of the schools I am applying to? Does it look good or should I not worry about it? I am also taking Biology, Microbiology, and Physics 2. So I am a little concerned about being overwhelmed. Oh I also work 20 hours a week too.

I wouldn't take it if I were you. You already have a fairly full workload (school and job) and you wouldn't want an extra class eating up your study time for the classes that are required.

Stay away from Calc 2 if at all possible. It's not worth taking it if you don't need it, especially if you are already overloaded...I did what you are talking about doing, and no way, no how was it worth it. Use the hours upon hours you would spend on Calc 2 to volunteer, work, or just relax.

I agree with everyone's posts. I worked a lot and took 4 upper level science classes (NOT fun). Lol, take that time and relax, I think I had a few break downs that semester.

Calc 2 sux. Don't take it.

I received a C in Calc I when I took it in high school - I retook it and got a B when I got out of the military (5yrs later) - and took calc II and got an A the next semester. I felt it was easier than calc I, and the extra A was excellent for my GPA.

If you have nothing else that you need to take - and most of your load is easy - I say go for it.

If your load is anything but easy - avoid it like the plague!!!

It may not help increasing pre-requisite GPA because "some" schools only use "Calculus I" for pre-req calculation. But Calculus II and "any" science courses you've taken will be certainly included in PharmCAS science GPA, which can be beneficial if you're applying to PharmCAS -participating school.
