Hello guys,

I am about to start my second year in post-bac program at local university. I was planning on taking 3 classes this semester (2 bio, 1 calculus II). But the thing is, due to the time conflict, I have to either don't take Cal II or give up one of my bio classes. I know Cal II is not required for most of the med schools, but since it's relatively recommended, plus I like math, I want to take it. (OR should I not even take Cal II??)

The solution that I came up with is that I take 2 bio classes from my university, and take Cal II from local CC. But I'm a little bit caustious about how it's going to be look like from committee's perspective. By the way, if i take Cal II at CC, this is going to be my first "science" class from CC and I have about 3.3 science gpa. And I got my Cal I credit from AP Cal (hmmm.. about 5 years ago..? lol)

I'm ready to hear any kind of mean or straightforward advice from you guys! thanks!

Unless the school you're planning on applying to recommends it, I'd not take it. It also depends on the school as to how the admissions committee looks at it, the MSAR has a list per school on how they view CC class. Some don't care, some care greatly (as in wont accept CC classes). Also in terms of GPA repair and arguing for your ability to handle academic rigor, your argument wont be as strong if you boast CC classes.

So.... if it were me, I wouldn't take it unless a school I'm specifically planning on applying to wants it, and even then I'd probably plan on taking it later, possibly if they ask for it after I apply. I'd probably in the meantime look for some other class to take which could help with the GPA.

Don't be scared, take Calc II. It builds character.
