And Obamacare changes this...how?
While many as you know are already accessing Medicaid and free school lunches and, if you work in a border state, you'd have experience with the collapse of the hospital system, not to mention the squeeze on our schools, parks, traffic, crime, pollution etc,
According to its marketing the whole point of Obamacare is to extend insurance to all these millions who supposedly have no access. We are meant to take away that it will help us poor citizens, and of course everyone's costs will magically be cheaper, but consider that, if we really are adding millions who were previously not accessing the money pot, then naturally costs will be higher, as these millions are obviously not paying for themselves.
Therefore despite us already paying for other people, with Obamacare we will be paying for even more people.
Even with potential higher patient volume, they would merely be paying us with our own tax money. We are fortunate in being one of the professions to recoup some of that money, but that still means we are working for free.
I will be no slave
It also begs the question: can we maintain a first world nation, with underpaid, overworked, depressed fertility citizens, supporting a burdening fecund population with dubious ability? Will the superrich care about maintaining infrastructure and good standards for the proles, when they will always be able to afford the best, in healthcare, homes, and security, no matter how dire the situation of the country?
Perhaps they won't. And why should they. But what it will mean is a Brazil like situation, with vast favelas of crime, necessitating an entire police force of SWAT, corruption, apathy, and mediocrity endemic throughout society, dependence on the first world for civilizational and technological advance. Except we are the first world
