California Northstate Application Thread

Unfortunately, I will not be changing status to intern if they only pay 17.00.. I live in Key West so our pay rate is different. I was hoping CA was more. I was warned that if I changed from tech to intern I would probably decrease in pay and that is one of the main reasons I was curious. Thank you for all your information. I have been accepted to CNCP and have already turned in my 1500 bucks so I hope to see u this year.

I have a question. is Sallie Mae around 10% interest for most people or is it a lot lower in case of excellent credit?
About Fafsa as far as I know the school needs to have a full accreditation from ACPE. I dont know if the school has to have WASC full accreditation as well.
From my understanding, CNCP needs WASC accreditation in order to be eligible for FAFSA. I know some schools that had candidate status from ACPE but were able eligible for FAFSA because they already had a medical school/nursing school/ and so already had WASC accreditation.

To those interviewing, good luck! Hope to see you in August.

For those who are students: Are there a lot of students working as interns? Are there a lot of job opportunities? I want to work when I start school in August.

Money is not everything. With the intern title you could do a lot more (such as patient consultation). Those that are interviewing tomorrow. Good luck and just be yourself.

Trying too!! Kinda anxious! Thanks🙂

Its already Friday...exactly 3 weeks from the Feb 25 interview but have heard nothing. Im thinking maybe got denied or waitlisted. They do have an interview today so maybe that why they are still behind?? Crossing my fingers.

Went to Touro MPH info night and met P2 student. Told him about my upcoming interview at CNCP and he just frankly told me not to go to that school. I asked him why he would say something like that. He said he has a friend who goes there and his friend has had way too many student loan issues, its just not worth it.

I'm cancelling my upcoming interview with CNCP, I'm a strong applicant and would much rather wait another year be patient and wait for the next application cycle at Touro and USCF.

Most adults have bills including car payments, rent, electricity. So yes money is important when you are actually married and have responsiilities. I have made as a tech over 18.90 per hour. As an intern besides counseling, you are pretty much a designated tech. You have the same responsibilities as a tech except you can take transfers from other pharmacies (which I have done for years). To me those little extra responsibilities are not enough for me to give up more than 1.50 in which will help me survive considering the limited amount of time I will actually be able to work. Good luck with growing up .

paula, it's great that you have a family and adult responsibilities. That's really great. If you feel $1.50 is too great of a difference to get an intern license and have more responsibilities then continue to count pills as a tech, then more power to you and good luck supporting your family.
btw, it's not a good idea to insult a person that simply responded to your question. Being accepted to a professional program should give you an opportunity to start acting as a professional. This thread is often viewed by current student, admission committee members, and your future classmates so be polite at what you write. In addition, I think I remember you from the interview and I possibly interviewed you.

I got accepted to CNCP, but I am worried about the school tuition. Since the school isn't accredited yet, how much debt will I be in after my first year at CNCP? I will have to take out all loans for my tuition. If any current CNCP students is reading this and can give me a reality of their financial situation please advise me.

Congratssssss.....Are you from Feb 25th Interview?

Just want to share this information from WASC "As a for-profit, federal Title IV funding is not available to their students until they achieve Initial Accreditation. Only non-profits get it at Candidacy. Federal policy, not ours."

I have a question about CNCP's accreditation status. So do you guys think after the first class graduated, the school will have everything ready and be able to get the full accreditation status from ACPE? Since to get the full accreditation from ACPE, to my understanding they not just need the first class to graduate. there are more requirements to be fulfilled. Do you think CNCP will have everything ready by then? Furthermore, what about WASC when is the expecting initial accreditation and full accreditation?

Sorry guys, just confused. 😕

CNCP requires you to have an intern license, and you will fill out all the paperwork on the first day at orientation. You need the intern license to participate in some of their required experience studies. Cost of living in Rancho Cordova is pretty cheap compared to most places, and since there are so many people who want to intern and work, pay probably is not as high as some other places. And another thing to keep in mind is that if you don't have a CA pharmacy tech license, you will need to get that if you still want to tech instead of intern. It's something to think about because if you don't really end up using your tech license, then its just a waste of money to get your tech license. I realize you feel there may be a decrease in pay, but one last thing to keep in mind is that you need to get so many hours of intern experience to sit in on the board exam so it might be a good idea to get a start on that.

I know it's tough going to school and it's a lot of money, but hope some of this info helps in your decision and good luck.

Yeah, I don't think she should mentioned "except you can take transfers from other pharmacies (which I have done for years)

I hope you're gonna interview me carcrazy007, we can talk about cars.

Yeah I had my interview back in September and this is one of the interviews that I felt the best about. The interviewers made me feel really relaxed so that I was able to be myself during the interview. I was accepted in the beginning of November. I think this school has the potential to be a really great pharmacy school and it is kind of exciting to be a part of its creation 👍

damn... any idea for the rejection? you seem to be a good candidate getting interviews left and right in the state of california.
haha, my interview didn't go too well. but it doesn't matter cuz I also got an acceptance letter to ucsf (ironically the same day! ) 🙂

Got into Northstate from the January interview! A little excited and a little scared...Hope to see you guys next year =D

hi, in the interview session last week, one of the financial personal said that if they get accredited after the first class graduates it may take a semester for the federal loans to be active.

Interviewed February 25th. Got my call this afternoon that they accepted 10 of the applicants from that day. I will be declining my invitation. Best of luck to the rest of you!

DAMNNNNN, only 10? How many applicants were there that day?

I was from Feb 25th, and I just got waiting list letter. 🙁

How many people were there on the 25th? Regarding your waitlist, Don't stress it. I believe CPCN only has two more interview sessions and a lot of people whom been accepted are probably waiting on other schools and haven't declined yet.

My interview was on march 18, and I just got an email saying I'm on the wait list too 🙁
Anyone know if the chances of getting in from the waitlist are high?

Around 80.
One of the admissions guy said they already gave out 75 spots 🙁 so the interviewees from march 18 plus the interviewee for the two interview sessions in April are aiming for the 25 seats that are still available 🙁.

I got on the wait-list too.... Does anyone know how CNCP's wait-list work and if there is a high, medium or low category....? Anyone got the acceptance news yet?

it seems that everyone interviewed on March 18 are on waiting list. Does everyone who interviewed that day got accepted?😕

so nervous about tomorrow's interview :-0 !
GOOD LUCK everyone~!!! 😀🙂😀🙂😀

There is a very good chance you will get accepted even on the waiting list. Just keep up by getting good grades, continue to gain pharmacy experience and update your accomplishments.

there were so many great personalities from today's interview. i think the crowd from the next interview session will have some problems getting seats.
