Hi, Anyone from the Feb 25th interview heard anything about their acceptance?

I was from the feb 25th interview too, but have not heard anything yet..still waiting. Who were you interviewed by? I was interviewed by Dr. Pearson, and he didn't seem to like me very much. He was so stern no reactions and stuff.😕

I was interviewed by Soña Frausto. She was very nice and friendly....

Just got the e-mail from Gail. I was accepted! Good luck to everyone!!

Guys Sallie Mae does not give out loans to CNCP....At least not yet. I spoke to sallie mae today and CNCP is not one of the approved schools they give out loans to. I dont know what CNCP has been telling us but the fact is there is no loan from sallie m. So we might as well start looking for other options. ED South is the only one that recognizes CNCP but as we all know, ur credit has to be really good and no-cosigner if uve ever had a credit card. Ive already applied to ed south and ive been turned down.
My real question is "IS IT ADVISABLE TO PAY THE $1500 WHEN THIS SCHOOL DOES NOT EVEN HAVE LOAN OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS"
I was just preapproved for a loan with Sallie Mae.

Yes I just got the e-mail today. As soon as I got it, I applied for the Sallie Mae loan because I didn't want to pay the deposit without knowing if I could get a loan or not. I just used the link from the Financial Aid section of CNCP's website. As for the application, when it came to the School Information section, I typed in "California Northstate College of Pharmacy" and hit continue. Then there's a drop down that asks for degree, major, academic period, anticipated graduation, etc. Filled it out hit continue and went on to the rest of the application. When I was done, I had some questions about the loan so I called Sallie Mae. They asked me some questions and then told me I was preapproved. The whole process took about 2 hours.

I wore a dark gray suit with a white shirt. The staff and students are all really nice and very open to answering questions so just try to be yourself. I felt really relaxed in my interview and it felt like they really wanted to get to know me. They asked a lot of questions about me, my experiences at work, volunteering, etc. It was a very long day, but overall I was really impressed with the school. The faculty really believes in the program and in their students and it feels like they're a really tight knit group. Good luck!

I submitted my application around Feb 1st and got the interview invitation on Tuesday. Also, for anyone who's tight on $$$, I live about less than a mile away from CNCP and could spare our guest room for the April 1st interview.

Due to the emails about not being able to do Sallie Mae. Patricia the head of the financial aid has put up a comment that it will not be available until the end of April. I do not know who you applied to, but I honestly do not think that you applied for the right loan. Does anyone remember the school to do the MBA and to help with financial assistance?

Yep I believe rxhope2 was either lying to us or he applied for this loan to the wrong school. there is no way possible he could have applied to cncp with this loan if the name of the school was not even there. But yea Im happy we were able to clarify this matter. Thanks!!!

Whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you, but I think it's really uncalled for to say I'm lying. And that is all I'm going to say on that matter.

RXHope, congrats on getting the preapproved loan but I believe what the other students are saying is that they hope you are getting the "right" loan. Is is the Smart Option loan? If it is, then you're fine. That is the one where you pay about $25 a month while you are in school. Otherwise you may have to pay more while in school.

Here is the link to the Financial Aid section on the site guys:

I strongly recommend you all contact Patti for the best updated options available to you. That's what she does, it's her job to help us with all of this. Some students applied to Sallie Mae or other loans before the Smart Option loan was available for us last year, and they ended up having to pay over $200 a month while in school. So do your homework.

Best of luck to you all!

Oops I forgot to write what I came in here for in the first place

Email from Dean Hawkins this morning!

"I am happy to report to you that WASC has granted CNCP Candidacy Accreditation Status. The next step is full accreditation after the class of 2012 graduates."

So for those who aren't following, we were granted Candidacy accreditation status from ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) last year and now received Candidacy accreditation from WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). WASC accredits all schools/colleges/universities, ACPE accredits pharmacy schools. We are A-OKAY with both of them 👍 We will reach full candidacy for both once the first class (class of 2012) graduates.

Thanks for the concern. Yes it was the Smart Option loan with the $25 monthly payment. I triple checked everything, but I am planning on contacting Patti next week.

Great to hear that CNCP now has Candidate status from WASC!

Hi, just a question about the loans. I am just wondering why there are much more people mention about Sallie Mae loan not the Ed south loan. Is this because it is harder to get Ed south? or is it because it requires citizenship? to me Ed south is 5% and Sallie Mae is 10% interest, which would make the decision obivous, right?😕

By the way, I thought that as long as the school is granted candidate status from WASC, we should be qualified for federal loan, now. Or was I wrong? What is the criteria that we can get federal loan. I mean there are other candidate schools that qualify for federal loans, so why not CNCP? I am confused now.

I have a question. is Sallie Mae around 10% interest for most people or is it a lot lower in case of excellent credit?
About Fafsa as far as I know the school needs to have a full accreditation from ACPE. I dont know if the school has to have WASC full accreditation as well.

From what I heard (don't quote me on this), most people on SallieMae gets around 10% interest, and most people on Ed south get around 5%. I mean right now all the loans have really low interest, mortgage, equity etc.

I am pretty sure the main reason most people are looking at the sallie mae loans is because they can have a cosigner. I do not know to many people with a 690 credit score that are still in college, if you do that's awesome, but I am pretty sure I am going to have to someone cosign for me.

how have you guys prepared for TBL learning stuff? are they really asking those materials??

I would suggest to prepare for the TBL by reading the packet they sent out.

Questions about the TBL assignment will not be asked during the interview per say. However, you guys will be in groups and will answer questions regarding the TBL assignment. It is an attempt for you to familiarize yourself with the TBL curriculum there and to judge whether it is the right style of learning for you.

As a suggestion, although TBL will not be asked during the interview, it would be nice to mention your "feelings" about it during the interview since CNCP is big on that 🙂

Good luck!

For everyone that got accepted already... Congrats!
Just wondering if you got a call like they said or an email??

Hi Ehm1, thank you for the information on CNCP Accreditation status. I look forward to joining my class and the family in CNCP in this Fall 🙂.

Hello,

So I am from Florida and am a sr tech with walgreens. I was wondering if there is a cost of living increase from florida to cali..please let me know approx how much an average tech makes in your area so I know if I need to ask for more.

Thanks

Paula

Hey, I think if you are accepted to pharmacy school this won't even matter because you will be eligible to get your intern pharmacist license and you can work as an intern and make more money than a tech. And if I remember correctly, I remember talking to some current CNCP students at the interview and they said the starting intern pay in the area was around $17 (I think that was for CVS).
I'm not 100% on this response, but I am pretty sure about it... so if anyone else knows any more info by all means correct me

Hi daina12, Sallie Mae has probably been the most popular choice because initially that was all that was available. The Ed South loan was a new option that became available later, after most people got their Sallie Mae loan already. Yes the interest is lower for Ed South and it isn't harder to get. I know a student who did not get a Sallie Mae loan without a cosigner, but was able to get an Ed South loan without a cosigner. The Ed South loan is a lower interest rate, and you pay $100 a month while in school I believe. Sallie Mae is higher interest rate, but $25 a month while in school. I currently have a Sallie Mae Smart Option loan but I am considering going for the Ed South loan next year. Not sure yet though.

And the Dean came and spoke to us about accreditation and we're going to get another visit next spring or something. But I forgot which one it was. Maybe it's WASC, and that will be the final one where they could sign us off and give us complete candidate status.. something like that. Honestly though I was studying while he was talking so I can't remember exactly what he said since I wasn't paying much attention 😳

Either way, next year the first class is graduating. So after that we'll definitely be able to get federal loans either way.

Hi every one,

For those who already interviewed at CNCP, would you please let us know how you feel about the writing exercise? Is it related or based on the TBL topic, or a totally different topic? and how long were you given to do it?

For the interview part, how do feel about it? is there any tough questions that you want to share?

I am very appreciated for your reply and sharing information. Good luck to all of you.
